Word of the day…
filiopietism – the reverence of forebears or tradition carried to excess
Or to put it another way …
We’ve always done it that way.
Why do we follow certain traditions? Is it because we are told that we must? Is there social pressure to perform an action, or follow certain procedures because “traditionally, it’s always been done that way?”
Sometimes it’s interesting to think about the why? of a tradition. Why do we need to do it a particular way. Is it based on some real reason?
